Review A6VMX Foxconn

I recently bought a Socket AM2 motherboard cheap products by Foxconn relitivly. Foxconn is the A6VMX. This review based on using the motherboard for about three months to determine their characteristics.

First, I want to begin by the price. This is a fairly cheap motherboard prices around £ 31 ($ 47). At this price, I expected a very weak motherboard poor quality capacitors relitivly low and almost no external ports, but I was wrong.

The motherboard has the rear following I / O connectors;

1 set 5.1 channel Audio jacks (3 doses)
1x parallel port
Keyboard 1x PS / 2
1x PS / 2
1x port VGA
4x USB 2.0 Ports
1x RJ45 port
1x serial

This is sufficient for many people, but without HDMI and DVI is provided with a map mother that the costs of this amount. I am pleased to see that this card comes with PS / 2 keyboard and PS / 2 that many mothers away to save space in the I / O. It also includes 5.1 audio, I was very happy when you play music through my speakers X-540. The sound quality is very good.

In this motherboard offers a wide choice of connections for the computer maker to work. The board has the following ports for internal use;

1x CD-connector
1x Audio header before
1x S / PDIF
1x IRDA
1x TV-out header
1x flexible connector
1x front panel connector
2x USB 2.0 connectors support additional 4 ports
1x Speaker
4x SATA II connectors
2x USB Power header
1x IDE connector

I was surprised to see so many SATA ports on the motherboard of this price, but although many have been included. It also has a floppy connector and IDE connector. They are great if you have any old hard drive or floppy disk to store old data. performance FDI can be with her seems to be able to run both drives at the same time. I am also convinced many people would be happy to see that included S / PDIF header and TV output for use in a configuration of computer media.

The board has the following expansion slots;

1 x PCIe x16

1 x PCIe x1

2 x PCI

The small amount of expansion slots is mainly due to the fact that this a Micro ATX motherboard. I installed an Nvidia 9400GT 1GB Edition with a dual slot cooler, which unfortunately makes the PCI slots unusable and only two on the board of what could be a problem for some people. Another problem is that when you install a Radeon HD5770 as a will miss two more SATA ports behind the graphics card, which are not mounted horizonatly. Another small problem with the design of this forum is the place where the 24-pin male power is mounted. It is mid-way through the board in the right side, which means that you wire cable through the giant 24 top slots of RAM and the CPU fan connection. It is not too much of a problem, but creates a bad turn and could prevent cooling.

This map is relitivly cold when combined with an Athlon 64 X2 and 2GB RAM. The northbridge heatsink is a bit warm to the touch as the southbridge. When I turned the PC off after prolonged use, I found that the capacitors and VRM (voltage regulator modules), which also is very cool. The board also appears to be structurally strong enough with the assembly CPU fan must be securely fastened and chillers northbridge and southbridge to be aligned and perfectly safe. In addition, this forum is not much solid capacitors that many people want these days, but I have not had any problems with what all good Japanese brand capacitors on this motherboard.

With the Athlon 5600 installed I managed to overclock from 2.9GHz to 3.15Ghz stable just an improvement.

I do however feel that some very small issues with the supplied software. Included with the motherboard;

Plate mother Drivers

Fox overclocking utility

Fox logo

Fox Live Update

I found that the programs have all been a little glitch sauce, in addition to the overclocking utility. They seem not yet matured and may be updated to improve stability and characteristics. The utulity Overclocking is great and I am He managed to get a stable overclock. It also monitors the temperature and tension that seem to be more reliable than other monitoring tools equipment. Fox logo on the other side does not seem to work and for me it's a bit risky to use because it messes with the BIOS to change the boot image. After setting will not change mine to do nothing at all, so I do not touch it. Tool update is good, but Fox has some problems some small. Provides updated BIOS and drivers easier, but I would not recommend updating the BIOS with it, because it does not seem so stable and play with the BIOS is quite risky as it is.

Overall, I think this board is stable, reliable and fairly quick with lots of features. I do however provided that the software is not great. Perhaps Foxconn publish updates to improve, but so far, I decided not to play with them. (Apart from a bit of overclocking with Fox One)
